NRTA Community Service Initiatives

Community Outreach and Service and the NRTA With Our Youth! Program provide opportunities for retired educators and youth to work together to address the needs of youth, older people and the broader community.

Educator Support Network

Sadly, 33 percent of new teachers leave the profession within the first three years of employment. In an effort to stem the high attrition levels, retired educators and other community members are encouraged to support new teachers and administrators as they begin their careers.

The NRTA Pension Round Table (PRT)

This program monitors trends in public employee retirement issues and other benefits, and develops recommendations regarding research, public policy and advocacy to the NRTA and AARP on behalf of its members. Members meet to review legislative actions and statutes that affect recipients of public pensions.
