Who Can Enter
To enter the D.C. Detectives Great Prize Giveaway (the "Contest"), you must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the fifty (50) United States, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico or the District of Columbia. Employees of AARP ("Sponsor") and its respective affiliates and subsidiaries, and the immediate family members of such employees, and all others with whom they reside, are not eligible to enter the Contest or be selected as a Winner.
How to Enter
The Contest begins on September 4, 2008 and ends on September 6, 2008 (the “Contest Period”). To enter, answer at least five (5) questions on the Contest application form and drop the form in the official entry box at the Member Services Benefits booth in the Life@50+ exhibit hall during the following dates and times: September 4, 2008 from 11:30 am to 6:30 pm; September 5, 2008 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; and September 6, 2008 from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. You can also enter the Contest without attending the Life@50+ event by mailing a postcard with your name, home address, phone number and email address to Mona Gabry, D.C. Detectives Great Prize Giveaway Administrator, in care of AARP Services, 650 F Street Washington, D.C. 20004, or by sending a toll-free fax with your name, home address, phone number and email address to fax number 866-664-5363. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by September 6, 2008 and received by September 10, 2008. Fax entries must be received by September 6, 2008. Maximum one (1) entry per person. Any attempted form of entry other than described above is void.
How to Win
One (1) Second Prize winner and sixty-nine (69) Runner-Up winners (collectively, the “Winners”) will be selected in random drawings during the Event from September 4-6, 2008. One (1) Grand Prize winner and one (1) First Prize winner will be selected in a random drawing on or about September 12, 2008 from among all eligible entries received during the Contest Period. (See posted Prize List for a complete description of prizes.) Entrants do not have to be present to win. Winners will be notified by phone and/or mail/e-mail within ten (10) days of the drawing. Winners are solely responsible for all taxes on prizes and for all expenses not expressly listed in the Prize List. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Each Winner must sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability, and Publicity Release within fourteen (14) days of the date of winner notification or his or her prize(s) will be forfeited and awarded to a substitute winner selected at random from among all remaining eligible entries. Each travel companion of a Winner of the Grand Prize, First Prize, or Second Prize must sign and return a Travel Companion Liability Release to Sponsor before tickets or accommodations will be awarded. Prizes are nonassignable and nontransferable. No substitutions allowed by Winners. Prizes and individual components of prize packages are subject to availability and Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.
General Conditions
Your entry in this Contest constitutes your consent to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsor and the Contest judges selected by Sponsor which shall be final in all respects. Your entry also constitutes your consent for the use of your entry information for the purposes of administration in this Contest and any other purposes agreed to in the entry form or Official Rules. If selected as a Winner, you agree to Sponsor’s use of your name and state of residence for advertising and trade purposes in any media without limitation or further compensation, unless prohibited by law. Entrants are solely responsible for their own conduct and agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its respective subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the Contest or prizes won. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, stolen, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, illegible, postage-due or corrupted entries, counter malfunctions, transactions that are lost or fail to enter the processing system, or transactions that are processed, reported, or transmitted late, or not received or lost for any reason including computer, telephone, or any other malfunction including human error. Sponsor, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to cancel or modify this Contest if fraud, technical failures (including but not limited to tampering or unauthorized intervention) or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor compromise the integrity of the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant who attempts to tamper with the entry process in any manner. Sponsor will not be responsible for any inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials and announcements relating to the Contest.
