Congressman Bob Filner (D-CA)

Rep. Filner joined Congress in 1992 as a representative of southern California. He is currently Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee. As Chairman, Rep. Filner established a series of symposiums that focused on a variety of veterans’ issues including claims backlogs at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Traumatic Brain Injury and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Col. Norvell Coots

Col. Coots is the current Commander of the Walter Reed Health Care System in Washington, D.C. He brings a great deal of experience to his current position with an extensive background in military medicine. Col. Coots’ most recent assignments include Commander of the Keller Army Community Hospital and Commander of Andrew Rader Army Health Clinic at Ft. Myer, Virginia.

Lieutenant Colonel Brian Feser

Lt. Col. Feser is the Director of the Wounded Warrior Project’s Washington Bureau. He recently retired from 27 years of military service where he was recognized for many accomplishments. Lt. Col. Feser joined CSS Global in 2007 as Vice President of Protection Group.

There are currently more than 350 non-profit organizations nationwide dedicated to providing support for military members and their families. Brian Feser of the Wounded Warrior Project tells us what one of these organizations is doing for our vets.

The Host

Through most of her distinguished reporting career, Sheilah Kast has focused on the economy and workplace and how they affect people's lives. Well known to viewers of public television, ABC News, and CNN, she has covered the White House and Congress.

Kast also reported on the Washington aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks. Her stories included an investigation of anthrax in the mails and the struggles of bereaved Pentagon families to secure benefits.

At The Washington Star, in her first reporting job, Kast covered financial regulation, taxes, and energy. Her expertise in these important issues eventually led her to start a national public-television show, "This Week in Business," which she hosted in association with Business Week magazine.

Ms. Kast is a skilled interviewer. She has often hosted NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday and has her own current-affairs interview show on public radio in Maryland.
