AARP Applauds All U.S. House of Representatives Who Voted for H.R. 4

Statement by AARP CEO William Novelli on H.R. 4, the “Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act of 2007,” which passed the U.S. House of Representatives today.

“The opportunity to obtain health and financial security is a fundamental right that all Americans share. Today the House of Representatives took an important step toward making prescription drugs more affordable for millions of people enrolled in the Medicare drug plans by passing H.R.4. We commend the lawmakers who voted to give Medicare the bargaining power it needs to lower drug prices.

Now, we urge the Senate to act.

Making prescription drugs more affordable is just one of the building blocks needed to ensure that Americans have the health and financial security they deserve.”
