Okay: this group is not meant to compete with or supersede "JOKE OF THE DAY," which is great (and contains lots of gems worth reading). It's just that, as a number of people have pointed out, it's getting unwieldly, because it was established without groundrules. Here, for sanity's sake, let's try to keep the jokes grouped by general subject. I'll create a few categories, and members are welcome to add to them as necessary--but please try to use the existing ones, and "reply" to add new ones of the same kind, rather than creating another new topic. That way, those who are offended by gender-based jokes, or political jokes, or jokes relating to religion or theology (etc.) can avoid those categories, and those who are looking for jokes on a particular topic can find them fairly easily.
One other groundrule: though I'm going to include a group for ethnic jokes, it isn't intended for the kind of humor that stereotypes or maliciously ridicules a particular group of people. If you're telling an Italian joke, for example, it should be of the type that your Nona would find funny--or your tia, or your tante, or the equivalent as appropriate. I have no intention of playing "censor": just please show respect for one another's sensitivities, and "play nice."
