Postcards are a wonderful memorabilia. I could sit for hours looking at them and see things from long ago through the eyes of the photographer or artist that created them.
My Mother collected postcards, and after I was married I started my own collection, and we exchanged or picked up duplicates (as we did stamps) and sent them to each other, Later my children would always send me postcards, my Mother-in-law gave me postcards she had kept through the years, and one of my wonderful daughters-in-law made it a point to always send me a postcard from places they or she visited.
A young man, a schoolmate of one of my sons, setteled in Hawaii after his tour of duty in the armed services, and he sent me an entire folder of Hawaiian postcards.
Among my postcards are people, places and things. Old ones, new ones, funny ones, official Postal Service ones, animals, landmarks, and miscellaneous.
A lady I worked with, had a few from early 1900, and she gave them to me.
A lot of them have been written on, postmarked, and a lot have never been used, but i love them all.
I have a couple of shoeboxes full, and will definitely find time to go through and select a few to share on this website.
I will more than likely pass this collection on to one of my grandchildren who show an interest in them just like I do. I think they are a treasure worth keeping and passing on from one generation to the next.
I hope all who view these works enjoy them as much as I do.
