Northwest Arkansas RSCD Lasses & Lads. This dance form is influenced by the elegance of ballet due to the long Scottish history with France--not found in other Celtic geographic areas, such as, from Ireland; Wales; Isle of Man; New Umbria, UK; Cornwall, UK; Brittany, Fr.; Asturia, Spain; Unbria, Italy. RSCD beauty partly comes from the pride of memorizing the 25-28 dances for each ball--great mental/physical exercise. Balls are in costume; rehersals are in summer atire. The dances are often borrowed from weaver's designs, Highland Fling sword dances and tattoo marches. Therefore, rehersal attendance is important. We give demos to Renaissance-Madrigal-State Fairs, corporate, health, education and other events. I wear the predessor to the kilt made of the "whole nine yards," yes; my mother's Ross clan chief's wear of 1660 A.D.
