Today is the anniversary of the death of Truman Capote,  who is often credited with pioneering the "true crime" genre of non-fiction.

In his honor I thought I would post a topic for those who are fans of  crime and mystery writers.

Do you have any great ones that you follow and would like to share?

Hi again, Phyllis

I'm so glad you found the two books (and there are more) by Joanne Flukes.

I didn't realize how hard it would be to find ONE FOR THE MONEY  by Janet Evanovich  -- do keep looking because it is best to start with that one if possible.    But you could go to TWO or THREE if you had to and sample her writing.  If you laugh as much as most of her readers, you will continue to look for her books, which are up to FIFTEEN now!!!  Plus she has written other books, too, all of which I find fun.  And the same characters are in her books, too.

Hi, Phyllis

Sorry I haven't been in here for awhile and didn't see your request about contacting BOMC2.

Just enter "BOMC2" into your browser, and it will take you to the club listing including an "offer" (which I assume would be for new readers).   It is quite a good deal, I think.  I've been very pleased because I can get the very newest books as soon as they are available.

I love BOMC2 too, and agree there is none better.  I can even find new books that are'nt available on Kindle yet.  I do prefer Kindle, and find it easier to hold &  read.  also appreciate the convenience of their dictionary to immediately look up words I'm uncertain of . . . and there is no way to beat the variable font.  Ever tried to read one of those super large books in large print?  It makes a believer of you fast.  My other favorite is www.bookfinder4u.com.  they compare prices including shipping cost for used books.

Hi

Yes those used book prices cannot be beat.

I don't know how your libraries are funded but ours are partly through levys which have to be passed by the voters and even in the hard times when lots of things are defeated, the library levy has always passed here.  I hope that the hours there don't change too much as there are lots of people who depend on the library and kids during the school year need weekend access etc.

I purchase books from our library here in Tacoma WA for 1.00 for hardbacks, .50 for large paperbacks and .25 for the small paperbacks. They are not even that cheap at the 2nd hand stores any more. I also like the fact that you can reserve books and then go pick them up. I just hope they don't continue to cut the hours at our libraries. They  have cut the hours considerbly since I moved here in 2001.

Hi

That is good reminder about the public library.  As you said, we can reserve online and pickup is easy.  It is also very economical : )

They also have some great book sales.

Enjoy books by Lescroart, Frey, DeMille.  Also recently read Anatomy of Deception which was wonderful.  People of the Book is a great read.  Would recommend many of you try your local library.  I volunteer at one.  Most now allow you to place holds on books that you want.  A great savings!

Hi! I tried to find One for the money. I found Cream Puff Murder and Key Lime Pie Murder. There is one that will be available in Jan.2010, but I just forgot what book it is.

Will let you know, after thanksgiving,(it is on Monday) I think that the book store is closed, also we will be celebrating

Thanksgiving, so I can't go downtown looking for books. We are 10 people in the family, so we have to cook.

Happy Thanksgiving Day
