Let's hope that the Senate does not allow President Obama to signed the world treaty in Copenhagen concerning the UN global environment... the US will give up its rights.... and in that treaty the world will govern us... its another spread the wealth program- so beware.....

krlklar, I know how difficult it must be to look at and rely on actual charts and graphs. But, in all fairness, I suppose if we could extrapolate back in time to say 4.5 billion years ago and then we shouldn't find it hard to accept the science that the Earth and other celestial bodies in our galaxy, were virtual infernos where nothing could survive.

Having said this, the following graphs, based on tree rings, ice core samples, Earth's probable elongated elliptical orbit around the sun eons past (only 6,000 to 10,000 years for Creation Scientists), go back a couple of thousand years.

Your chart doesn't go back far enough to show the cyclical nature of temperatures. There were many cycles in geological time that had much bigger shifts before man had any influence.

krl, "Enough of the party lineback and forth!" Really? Then you go on to say, "man's influence on global warming is vastly over-rated by Al Gore and others."

Nobody ever said Al Gore was the authority on global warming. But, "others," meaning climatologists, meteorologists and research scientists are. In spite of those who continue to deny the facts "others" include the worldwide community of climate experts who couldn't care less about our politics.

The "party line" that global warming is just a liberal hoax or myth has been perpetrated by the "expert" Rush Limbaugh and most of the Republican hard liners who decided to politicize everything, including the weather.

If you look at the long term trend which also shows spikes either way, especially at the beginning of the industrial age, it is conclusive that the Earth's land and sea surface temperatures are increasing.

Enough of the party lineback and forth! If you look at Earth temperature change data long term it's hard to believe mankind had much to do with the cyclical changes. I'm not opposed to plans to reduce pollution world-wide,but man's influence on global warming is vastly over-rated by Al Gore and others.

BigDealNick, thanks for your reply. FYI, I used to be a Republican in the 60s. Both my wife and I voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger for governor in California before we left to live in Texas in December 2006. The GOP today, in my own opinion, isn't even a shadow of what it once was.

It's easy to find scientists and environmental experts to support any particular view regarding global warming. That's how many of these people receive recognition -- write and publish an opposing view, sometimes supported with questionable "facts."

I've been on juries where both sides, pro and con, gave "expert" testimony, each with credible arguments. Another example of "expert" scientist observation is the ongoing dispute over evolution vs. creation science. CSers always find scientists who support their view but in case after case, the courts inevitably conclude that creation science is religion, not science. The so-called debate continues, regardless.

I don't expect global warming deniers to actually understand or accept the factual, empirical data collected worldwide by climatologists and atmospheric research scientists whose painstaking studies support the evidence that global warming is and will continue have huge impacts on the U.S. and world populations.

However, most climate experts and research scientists in other countries aren't plagued by the small-mindedness and science illiterate Republican Party of No obstructionists.

Following the pied piper worshippers of Screech Radio Rush "Global warming is a Librul myth" Limbaugh is a prerogative and a mind-set all unto itself. But, a person who possesses no degree in any subject, let alone climate change or global warming, hardly qualifies as an expert -- except to the blind thralls of Dittoheads who have elevated their ignorance into a virtue.

A summation of September 2009 climate numbers reveals indisputably that the Earth is heating up, not cooling in spite of what some Russian scientist concludes.

The combined global land and ocean surface temperature was the second warmest September on record, according to

NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. Based on records going back to 1880, the monthly National Climatic Data Center analysis is part of the suite of climate services NOAA provides.

How is the Greenhouse Effect related to Global Warming?

Over the past century, atmospheric carbon dioxide (as measured from ice cores) has increased due to human activities from 300 to 380 parts per million (ppm), and the average Earth temperature has increased approximately 0.7°C (or about 1.3°F).

Greenhouse gases occur naturally in the Earth's atmosphere, but are also being added by human activities. This happens primarily through the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and natural gas, which releases carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.

Given what we know about the ability of greenhouse gases to warm the Earth's surface, it is reasonable to expect that as concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere rise above natural levels, the Earth's surface will become increasingly warm. Many scientists have now concluded that global warming can be explained by a human-caused enhancement of the greenhouse effect.

It is important to remember both that the greenhouse effect occurs naturally, and that it has been intensified by humankind's input of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

NCDC scientists also reported that the average land surface temperature for September was the second warmest on record, behind 2005. Additionally, the global ocean surface temperature was tied for the fifth warmest on record for September.

Global Temperature Highlights

The combined global land and ocean surface temperature was 1.12 degrees F above the 20th century average of 59.0 degrees F. Separately the global land surface temperature was 1.75 degrees F above the 20th century average of 53.6 degrees F.

Warmer-than-average temperatures engulfed most of the world’s land areas during the month. The greatest warmth occurred across Canada and the northern and western contiguous United States. Warmer-than-normal conditions also prevailed across Europe, most of Asia and Australia.

The worldwide ocean temperature tied with 2004 as the fifth warmest September on record, 0.90 degree F above the 20th century average of 61.1 degrees F. The near-Antarctic southern ocean and the Gulf of Alaska featured notable cooler-than-average temperatures.

Richard205:

The question was about the Treaty and not the sins of either political party.  I have been a Democratic Candidate, I met and was courted by JFK in January 1960.  We had an hour talk.  I was a leading Democratic Official in the Party.  Jack Kennedy was a conservative with a liberal vent for human rights.  I supported Steward Sympington, D-MO who also sought the Presidency.

Now that I have explained my background.  When the EPA published a report saying that Man is not causing Global Warming and the writer of that report is castigated (sp?) because it does not fit into the plan of the party, we got problems.  The problems are that Global Warming is a way to destroy our Economy.

There are 1 million plus active Volcano's under the Oceans.  They release heat that warms the water and melts the ice from below the surface.  Second they release Sulfuric Acid.  Sulfuric Acid increases the acidity of the oceans and kills coral.  Sulfuric Acid releases CO2 which is not really a Greenhouse Gas, but an essential element to plant growth.  It helps make Sugar in the process of plant growth.  I can give you the formula which is studied in the science courses in High School and College if you want.  I have my old notes from Botany in my Freshman Year of College.

The Russian Newspaper, reporting on the Russian Study of Global Warming, also indicate that we are in the beginning of an Ice Age that happens every 25,000 years or so.  The temperature of the earth has been in steady decrease since 1998.  That is from the EPA study published in draft form earlier this year.

That's an old Michael Steele/Glenn Beck mantra that has no truth nor scientific facts to back that up.

This head-in-the sand global warming denier mentality is exactly why the Republican Party of No is the minority party and they are getting kookier and wackier all the time.

Based on the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC poll neither the Democratic Party nor Republican Party are held in high respect or approval, Only 17 percent of Americans identify themselves as Republicans (as opposed to 30 percent for the Democrats, and 44 for independents).  That 17% approval for Republicans is hardly a mandate to take over the U.S. Congress in 2010 or the presidency in 2012.

No matter to the right-wing extremists. The hard right extremists took over the Republican Party which has been way out of step with the majority of American citizens for years. Denying global warming, birthers, tea bagger, AR-15 toting militants, Hate Obama 24/7, obstructionism, advocating the overthrow andsubversion of our government all represent today's Republican Party.

Americans got a bellyful of this craven, depraved party on November 4, 2008. We jettisoned the policies of Bush-Cheney, Bush's Moritimer Snerd would-be replacement, John "Me Like Bush" McCain and his cerebrally-challenged sidekick, Sarah Palin along with a slew of Republican candidates who also lost seats in both houses of Congress.

Hoping and praying for our president and our country to fail may be the Republican agenda but it's not where America wants to go for our future.

If you think that they will not allow the President to Sign the Treaty you are mistaken.  These liberal bunny huggers that are in the Senate will do it.  If people are so stupid to think that hot sinks in the ocean to melt Ice from below and the Newspapers publish that to prove global warming we are in trouble.

Do they not know about the volcanos on the ocean floor that are active?  Heat rises not sinks.  Sulfuric Acid releases Co2 because it is a key component in the formulation of Sulfuric Acid.

EPA in the report issued earlier this year indicated that MAN has not caused Global Warming.  After the report was released they threw the writer under the Bus Wheels.  But the facts the write had gotten came from NASA Space temperature measurements and ground temperature measurements.  Conclusion the earth has cooled since 1998 and the trend of cooling will continue until at least 2030.  Most of the Planets in our Sun's solar system are warming, but we are not.

By the way, where did Eric the Red park his SUV?  When he found Greenland and settled it, it was green and they grew crops and raised cattle there for several centuries.  The Ice came back and settlements had to leave.  How do you think the name "Greenland" came about?  Let the Global Warming idiots think about this.
