I think there is a lot of evidence that global warming exists, but I'm not sure human activity is as influential as natural cycles. Important as our activities may be, long term history says that cycles have occurred long before we were so important.

There have been several threads started on this subject ,unfortunately resulting in a lot of duplicated charts and data from different sources . The way this forum is setup it's hard to keep on a topic and all too easy to start one that really is the same as an old one.

Charts which go back a few eras in geologic time show cyclical changes in earth's temp that could not have been due man's influence. Reducing pollution is a worthwhile goal in any case, but hysteria over man's influence on global warming is not.

There is money in it NOW, but a few years ago, researchers who supported the global warming theory were "defunded" and quickly learned not to speak up. But it's all a moot point--there's no changing it now. Any actions we take won't have effects in our lifetime, so we need to be learning how to deal with the new environment.

Hey, Thanks, I love that video- and - What really struck me as amazing , was the fact that when you google Global Warming- Everything, , an entire page- is Pro-Global Warming- Brainwashing, over-kill, and hyperbole!

Only that one item from you tube was the other side of the story- There is money in announcing Global Warming, and no money in being skeptical, critical or, even thinking for yourself!!

Watch out, Big Brother is Controlling your Brain!!

As a strong advocate of fully utilizing the proven nuclear option- especially breeder reactors ( around for more than 50 years - see one of my postings), let me say that

"If it weren't for oil in Iraq, we wouldn't be there.  We are not in Darfur nor a dozen other awful places.  The only reason our boys and our money are dying in Iraq,is the oil in the region.  Yes, it will be a mess if we leave.  It was a mess before we got there and the native participants are not helping solve the problem.  They are using us for patsies.  It is time to draw a line in the dirt.  Tell them when we are leaving, and then leave on schedule.  Otherwise, we will bleed to death there, financially and really, with no end ever in sight.  It really will be another Viet Nam, which by the way, DID eventually restabilize.  Let's learn from history so that we don't repeat it."

The clothing industry has been making fortunes on 'fads' for quite some time now - so why not GM? RightUnfortunately for GM - any profit they might make on these fuel efficient or electric cars will only go to reduce their losses - and not winding up in the 'profit pile'!

And I must be honest - although I do not type certain words - it is not that I am shocked or even dismayed when I hear/read themSome of my best friends use them all the time!!!

I agree very much with your sentiment regarding the waste of money - and I will add 'time' to that also - on diplomacy.   This is especially true when wasting our money, time and effort on mediating, negotiating and trying to have relationships with those that want it no less than 60/40 - but more like 99/1

As for the 'spending lots of money' on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - I see that more as an investment in our future as a nation and 'freedoms of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness'.   To argue now what we could be doing with the funds being invested in these wars is to ignore true history - for at the time all but only two or three of our elected representatives voted to enter these wars - based on what was known at the timeThat holds true also for the great majority of AmericansAnd no matter how hard the attempt at changing that history - especially now in this campaign - it is still a hard and fast history.

Perhaps it is misguided loyalty - or accountability - but I would hate to see us pack up our bags and leave too early those that have come to rely on us for their safety and freedomsWould it be easy to do - yesWould it be popular to do so - again, to many, yesWould it save money - in a myopic way, yesBut is it the right thing to do - I think notTwo wrongs do not make a 'right' - for as you will remember - we left too early with Bush #1 and look what happened to the citizenry of IraqOur country is too great allowing that to happen again to the men, women and children of that country - especially the women and childrenIs it costly - no doubt - but, as an American and one with a sense of accountability - it is an investment I am willing to make and support.

Do not fret Betsy - I am confident that alternative sources of energy will be developed well before we run out of oil - both as a country and as a worldIt will happen a great deal faster if government and the special interests groups (like those of the 'global warming' crowd) would just get out of the wayIn fact, we already have one but the "anointed few" keep it from being utilized to a greater extent - and that is atomic energy.

Shocking! the words he used! And, shocking that he would make money on the issue while not even believing in it! LOL

I took one of his quotes:

Global warming is atotal   ###   Then he added: “Im a skeptic, not a denier. Having said that, my opinion doesnt matter. (With the battery-driven Volt), “Im motivated more by the desire to replace imported oil than by the CO2 (argument).”

Now, I have to say I agree with him on both statements, although I prefer to phrase it more eloquently.

We do not need to be spending lots of money on Middle Eastern war and diplomacy if we get off the oil dependency. so, who is going to give us the alternative to oil? Can we count on a discovery of a reasonable , efficeient Where athe American enterepreneurs on this huge issue which could be the biggest money-maker of all time?

And, how much do we spend on research in this area? is it anything like what we spend on the war???r before we run out of the supply?

Having been attacked as brutally has he has for his statement/belief - just enter his name and "global warming" into any search and you will find out:  Robert Lutz - Vice "Chair" (excuse my earlier demotion of him) of GMI try not to type certain words in my emails/correspondences.
