I've quit heating my leftovers in plastic containers and I'm using only glass now, but I was confused on what the latest science really was. The Daily Green e-newsletter always has great, easy to understand information and I liked this posting on the latest research on what's safe and what to avoid with plastics. http://www.thedailygreen.com/green-homes/latest/recycling-symbols-plastics-460321.

I even got my college kids to quit using plastic in the microwave - no easy feat!

Thanks for the newsletter tip! I've found it ridiculously challenging (especially at work!) to avoid microwaving plastic containers. Thankfully, I don't use the microwave has much as I used to.

I have invested in some glass containers for storing leftovers and such, so I feel like that's one small victory. :-) I actually had to visit three stores to find them, which made me realize what a plastic-dependent society we've become.
