You can save money by using vinegar and water for cleaning.  For example, window cleaner:  Fill a 22 oz spray bottle with water (fill the container almost all the way), 4 tbsp. vinegar, 15 - 20 drops lemon essential oil. It is a little runny, but I find it cleans better than most commerical products.  Also vinegar is great on weeds.

I have quit buying the smooth top stove cleaners.  The burns, grease, and oils all come off easily with a baking soda paste.  This paste also shines my stainless steel sink and freshens the drain.  Yay!

Hi All,

I like 'Everyday Living' natural glass cleaner. It looks, smells and acts just like Windex. I found it in my supermarket - cheap too. Of course, I'm not quite sure as to whether Windex's ingredients are "bad" for the environment. Does anyone know?

Thanks, Krisen. Vinegar is such a versatile thing to have around. I need to be careful about using it as a cleaner because I have a lot of marble and granite surfaces (they don't like acids), but I do agree it has many uses for around the home!

You should realize that vinegar is extremely acidic!  That's why it kils weeds and beneficial life forms like worms that break down all debris to return the minerals to the soil.  We do NOT need anymore acid going into our environment.  I've had the same bottle of vinegar for at least 10 years because I only use it to clean out my coffee maker, then return it to the bottle.

I used pH balanced cleaning products that bind with bacteria and return it to where it belongs in benefitiing the environment.
