Observing Driving Skills

How do you know if someone's driving is a safety risk? Changes in driving skills in later life usually occur gradually.

It's best to observe changes and explore options over time and don't over-react to a single or minor incident.

Guided observations are different from casual observations. You need a systematic, objective way to assess driving.

What warning signs do you see? Could someone build a case for why you should limit or stop driving?

Be sure to observe their driving over time, keeping notes to help you understand changes in driving ability. Look for a pattern of warning signs and for an increase in the frequency of occurrence.

By observing driving changes over time and under different driving conditions you can better assess changes or patterns in driving skills.
