Our group of eight ladies, all over 50 & former coworkers, are plannning a get-together. We live in New York, Virginia, North Carolina & Florida and are hoping for a central location to meet up. Looking for a getaway place for a "reunion" for a few days. Resorts are "in season" and too expensive. Can you recommend something that would fit the bill for us?

I would like to take my soon-to-be 95-year-old father on a trip to see the shuttle launch in Florida. He is in comparatively good health and can walk pretty well with the aid of a cane. The launch does not always take place as planned, and a "window" can be up to three days, so it’s hard to plan how long to stay. I am looking for resources, packages, etc., for a 5–7 day stay in the Space Coast area. We will fly from this area there and rent a car. (My son is an aerospace engineer who works on the project, and I know it will be a real thrill for my father to see what his grandson does for a living.) Any help from you would be appreciated, so that we can save money on hotels. Thanks. -Ruth, Memphis, Tenn.

My wife and I plan to cruise on a one-way trip from Lisbon, Portugal, to Florida. The cruise company charges a very high price for a one-way airfare, and so do most airlines. I found a travel company offering a tour of one week in Portugal, including airfare, hotel, and rental auto, for a little over $1,000. Why not take the tour and on the last day board the vessel for the trans-Atlantic cruise? We would just forfeit the return air ticket! I know airlines don't go for that, but what can they do about it? Should I do what I have proposed above? Thank you. -T. Lewis, Severna Park, Md.

I'll be going to Mexico and wanted to fly to Guatemala City, Guatemala, and then take a bus back up to Chiapas, Mexico. My questions are two: One, are there any special visas or other papers I have to get to go to and travel in Guatemala, or to cross the border into Mexico? And two, are bus rides through the frontier in Guatemala safe? Are there any other considerations for traveling or going to Guatemala? –James, Amargosa Valley, Nev.

I want to take a train from Milan, Italy, to Prague, Czech Republic. I have looked on the Internet, but its very confusing, for me and many other American travelers (with no understanding of the European train system). What is the quickest way to accomplish this? I want to travel first class and not waste time. Can you help me? -Larry, Flagler Beach, Fla.
