We are planning a trip to Novi Sad (Serbia) soon. I was wondering how you feel about this. Is it safe? What are some of the things that we should be sure to see? Please give us any insights. –Nancy, Hoffman, Ill.

I'm a 43-year-old single female interested in visiting Ireland. I am interested in learning how the locals live and hope to become a part of their life for the time I am there. Should I perhaps stay on farms or bed-and-breakfasts, or get a local guide to show me around? –Jackie, West Hartford, Conn.

Hi, Peter. I have never used Priceline or Orbitz, but I've been told I can save money using them to book rental cars. My concern is, can I be assured that I get a non-smoking car when using these sites? –Bruce Honolulu, Hawaii

I booked a cruise on Holland America through Expedia.com and put down a $600 deposit. HA's "rules and advisories," as posted on Expedia, state that customers can get a full refund if canceling 76 days before the cruise date. When I tried to cancel 85 days beforehand, I was told by HA that I wasn't entitled to a refund because the 76-day policy listed on Expedia was wrong. It should have said 120 days. How do I get my $600 deposit back?

My parents spent over $9,000 on a trip to Europe and also paid $1,000 for travel insurance. The company told them that even if they canceled, their full value would be protected if they bought the insurance. A few weeks before departure, my dad had a serious heart attack, which left him unable to take the trip then or any time after. When we tried to get a refund, the company provided a credit for a future trip. We offered medical documentation, but the company says the credit is all it's required to provide. Can my parents get their money back?

Being a travel professional, I wonder why you don't always suggest an experienced travel agent. We spend endless hours training and will do all the legwork for clients. We are almost always quoting the exact same price clients get online, and isn't it better to deal with someone face-to-face? –Lynn, Stoneham, Mass.

My companion and I would like to find a good deal on driving a car cross-country from Pennsylvania to California and/or Washington state, stopping at points along the way to sightsee. Your article mentioned Auto Driveaway, but I think they require you go directly to your destination. What other suggestions would you have?
