My husband and I are planning to go to Honolulu this December. We'll be staying with family, so we only need airfare. Do you think fares will go down closer to the date, or should we book now? I found flights for $668 each on Travelocity. Also, if I book now and fares do go down after that, do any airlines refund the difference? Is booking through a travel site different than dealing with airlines directly as far as refunds?

Hello. We like to fly nonstop Chicago to Palm Springs, Calif., and for years, American Airlines has been the only option. Now they no longer offer nonstops—at least not nine–10 months in advance. When do airlines like AA add nonstop flights to popular winter destinations like Palm Springs? –Karen Bloomingdale, Ind.

We will be traveling to Washington state to visit Olympic National Park, Lake Quinault, Kalaloch, and Lake Crescent. We enjoy day hiking and would appreciate any suggestions. Also, we would like to take a car ferry from Washington (Port Angeles or Seattle) to Victoria, British Columbia, and back, but we are not sure what our options are. Can you help us out?
