Peter Greenberg: Traveling With Medicines Not Approved in the United States

Hi, My parents will be traveling from India to U.S.A. soon and will be there for two-three months. My mom is insulin-dependent and has to be on some tablets (Larpose) that are banned in the U.S.A. but allowed in India. My questions are: 1) Can my mom carry about 120 Insulin vials, lancets, etc. (enough for 3 months), in her carry-on luggage (prescription-accompanied)? 2) Can she carry an equal stock of Larpose on her return trip, if she has a prescription from her physician in India? If so, what are the procedures for the security check? –Mayuri V., Madison, Wis.

Peter Greenberg: Theft in Overseas Hotel Rooms

My wife and I honeymooned in Rome, and our room was ransacked. The hotel was very nonchalant about the situation. I'm aware I can't do anything for the stolen goods, but I am indignant at the way the hotel handled the situation. Some locals recommended us pressing charges against the hotel. Any thoughts or recommendations? –Oliver Lee, Miami

Peter Greenberg: Flying With TSA-Permitted Foods

I have a question about what foods can be taken on a plane. I thought as long as it is solid, it's OK. When I went through security at LAX Airport, they confiscated my jar of peanut butter, saying it was unacceptable because of its clay consistency. Why does security differ from airport to airport? –Mary, Alamogordo, N.M.

Peter Greenberg: Canceling a Priceline Reservation

While on Priceline.com to rent a car, I exited the site before completing the transaction. But now they're insisting I have rented that car and won't cancel the reservation or give me a refund. What recourse do I have? –Janet, Gettysburg, Pa.

We're considering a trip to France and can stay at our friends' home in Lyon. We want to see the Tour De France in Paris the last day of the race. Where should we fly into and should we consider the Lyon option since it is so close to many other countries? –Cathie Stuyvenberg, Green Bay, Wis.
