Peter Greenberg: Filing Complaints Against Travel Companies

How can I get the Hotel Bucks promised me by Hotels.com? They were promised six weeks ago. All e-mail inquires resulted in boilerplate answers, "there is a 4-6-week response time," as though they never read that I've already waited six. I was told today they [the Hotel Bucks] were never mailed. From my recent research, it looks like this is the common procedure: Promise them, then don't send them, claim it is an error, and wait six weeks more, and on and on. Thank you for your assistance! –Kathi, Birmingham, Ala.

Becoming a Travel Agent

Can you tell me anything about the companies that let you become a travel agent, like YTB or Traverus? This seems like a good idea: You get discounted travel, earn a buck or two (having a hard time getting a job). –Jason, Kalamazoo, Mich.

Peter Greenberg: Redeeming an Airline Ticket Credit

I purchased a round-trip ticket for my grandson and my sister last summer from Continental Airlines. My grandson signed up to play football and canceled his flight about one week before departure. He received credit-confirmation number CZEHPQ for $237.50. The airlines' customer service says the credit is non-transferable. The dilemma is that my grandson is only 14 years old and would need to travel as an unaccompanied minor, adding $100 round trip to his fare, in addition to the $150 fee to redeem the ticket, making the credit moot. Can you help me have the credit transferred to me for my personal travel? Thank you for your consideration. –Lillian, Searsport, Maine

Peter Greenberg: Taxes on Frequent Flyer Miles

Having not redeemed Aeroplan (Air Canada) miles in the past four years, I was shocked recently to have $130 charged for taxes on a short-haul ticket plus a $30 fee for booking over the phone. Is this standard procedure for most airlines? -Paula, Montreal

Peter Greenberg: Senior Flight Discounts

Do ANY airlines offers senior discounts/deals anymore? Continental used to have a great deal, but no more. I am talking about deals on a regular basis--not specials. -Gary, Laredo, TX
