• Tax-Aide volunteer application
• Leadership position application
Another AARP Tax-Aide (the nation's largest FREE tax-preparation and assistance service) season is now under way, through April 15.
We are no longer able to process and train prospective volunteers for the current season. However, you can still make a real difference in your community and get the satisfaction of helping others NEXT season. Please complete and submit an AARP Tax-Aide Prospective Volunteer Form now, for the season starting late January/early February 2011. We will keep your application on file, and an AARP Tax-Aide volunteer will be in touch with you in late summer or early fall of 2010 with additional information.
There are many kinds of volunteer opportunities—from tax volunteers to greeters to communications and technology coordinators. One of these activities might be right for you! Review the volunteer descriptions below, then complete and submit an AARP Tax-Aide Prospective Volunteer Form.
Like working with numbers?
AARP tax volunteers interact with clients by filling out tax returns. Even if you don't have accounting or tax-preparation experience, becoming a tax volunteer may be right for you. AARP provides training in tax-law procedures, preparing tax forms, and using tax-preparation software.
Like working with people better than working with numbers?
An AARP Tax-Aide greeter is the first person clients meet when they enter one of our Tax-Aide locations. Greeters make sure the client has all the necessary paperwork before meeting with a counselor, and they manage the flow of clients being served.
Have a knack for computers and technology?
Technology coordinators manage computer equipment, work to ensure taxpayers' data is secure, or provide technical assistance to volunteers at multiple sites.
Love getting the word out about community services?
Communications coordinators promote AARP Tax-Aide to potential clients from February through April, and they recruit volunteers in the fall for the following tax season. They may also seek in-kind donations or help raise funds for computer equipment and other materials to maintain and expand services in their communities.
Good at managing people and programs?
Local and district coordinators are leaders who direct other volunteers, manage the program at a local or district level, and coordinate plans with other volunteers according to program guidelines. These coordinators assure the smooth operation of the program and address issues that arise.
Feel the joy and satisfaction of helping others. Apply to join the AARP Tax-Aide volunteer team today! Your expertise will be appreciated more than you can imagine. More than 34,600 Tax-Aide volunteers across the country get the satisfaction of helping others during this stressful time.
Volunteer policy: AARP Foundation volunteers will receive equal opportunity and treatment throughout recruitment, appointment, training, and service. There will be no discrimination based on age, disabilities, gender, race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, economic status, or sexual orientation.
AARP Tax-Aide is administered by the AARP Foundation.
