Last-Minute Mother’s Day Deals for Every Mom in Your Life

We found thoughtful and affordable gifts that there’s still time to get by Sunday

Panicked that you haven’t shopped for a Mother’s Day gift yet? Don’t be. There’s still time to score a thoughtful and budget-friendly present by May 12. Just avoid disappointing Mom by placing a pricey order online at the 11th hour that fails to arrive by Sunday.

You’ll need to get creative to find deals on winning gifts that you can have in-hand by Mother’s Day — and that won’t break the bank. The trick, says Julie Ramhold, a senior staff writer and consumer analyst at DealNews, is to avoid traditional gifts like jewelry or flowers, which retailers mark up considerably in the run-up to Mother’s Day — and you may find a slim selection as well at the last minute.

Instead, consider variations on traditional gifts -- a live orchid instead of a fresh-cut bouquet -- as well as nontraditional Mother’s Day gifts where you might find a greater selection available including books, athletic equipment or home decor items.

Or consider digital presents such as gift cards or tickets for an experience, all of which you can order and receive instantly online, even minutes before meeting Mom for Mother’s Day brunch.

I started dropping hints a month ago for the Mother’s Day gift I had my eye on (an Away carry-on suitcase), so I’m hoping my husband got the message. But I’ve been less proactive about gifts for my mom or mother-in-law.

I’ll probably pick them up one of the great last-minute Mother’s Day deals I found below, based on my conversations with shopping experts and checks of retailer websites and weekly ads.

Don’t take a chance on a last-minute online order shipping late. These in-store gifts can be purchased in person. Alternatively, if you don’t want to battle crowds, these brick-and-mortar retailers allow you to order online for same-day, curbside pickup. Digital-only gifts can be purchased online and shared instantly.

For the mom who lives to lounge

She can still be comfortable and stylish, whether waiting for a teenager to get home past curfew or watching the grandkids for the weekend. Find select sleep sets and robes on sale at Target stores through Saturday for 20 percent off, and women’s slippers and socks priced from $8-$20.

For the beauty-obsessed mom

Spend $150 and get 15 percent off select Lancome beauty products, including some gift sets, at Bloomingdale’s through Sunday. Among the items included are self-care essentials like a set of five Rènergie Lift Multi-Action Ultra Double-Wrapping Cream Face Masks and the Exfoliating Rose Sugar Scrub.

For the mom who loves a custom T

Through Saturday at Michaels, you’ll find the lowest prices of the year on Cricut machines, including the Cricut Joy for $99 (regularly $149) and the Cricut Maker 3 for $379 (regularly $399).

For the DIY mom

To properly channel her inner Joanna Gaines, she needs the right equipment. Lowe’s is offering power tool sales, including $60 off select Dewalt drills and $100 off a Kobalt nail gun and air compressor set.

Snag a $100 digital Adidas gift card (you can print out or email directly to mom) for just $80 when you purchase it at Adidas.com by May 15. She can put it toward a pair of always-in-style Gazelle sneakers in her favorite color, or level up her workout fits.

For the coffee-connoisseur mom

Through Sunday, you can take $50 off a one-year coffee-of-the-month subscription to Atlas Coffee (regularly $240). I received this as a birthday present, and it has made those chaotic school mornings just a little more pleasant.

For the mom who wants to learn

You can get up to 50 percent off an annual membership to Masterclass, where she can take virtual lessons in everything from public speaking to outdoor survival skills.
