FROM CALIFORNIA

I am a respite provider for my Mother. I am 27 years old and my current occupation is being a caregiver. I have been doing caregiving for 10 years. I have 2 children. I take care of my niece when my Mother needs a break, to run errands, nap, whenever she may need a break. My niece, Amanda, just turned 10 years old. She is really my cousin, whom my Mother took into her care because her biological Mother did not want her no longer, due to her drug use. My Mother got Amanda when she was 10 months old. Amanda is currently in 4th grade in a special needs class. I enjoy spending time with her, watching her grow, and knowing that she is safe, happy, and healthy. We are very close and I hope we continue a strong relationship over the years as she gets older.
