FROM KANSAS

We will be married 59 years in September. My husband had a number of TIA'S and then a more serious one. He was hospitalized for a week but the damage was done and he was diagnosed with vascular dementia which affected short term memory. It was 7 years ago and disease is slowly progressing, but I am very fortunate and am getting help at home as I hope I will never have to make that decision to move him to a nursing home. With home care assistance and at times a whole lot of patience, I am coping one day at a time. We have three children. who all live at great distance and have families of their own and I, being an only child do not have support from brothers and sisters. I am just grateful that I am a Cancer survivor and continue to do my best, even though there are days when I feel like giving up, the next day is always brighter.
