FROM MASSACHUSETTS

My Special K's are Kerry, she's 34 and Keith, he's 31. They are my happy, my sad, my everything. Both are moderately retarded with Autistic features and tendencies. Kerry had to be tube fed. I was trained to place her NG tube down her nose into her belly. Then G-tube for a couple years. I had emergency surgery at 12 weeks pregnant. My right ovary had a huge cyst. Kerry survived, she has a heart aneurysm as well as a bicuspid aortic valve. Kerry needs help with self-care, and will never be independent. Keith is her half brother, he lived in a residential for 9 years. He graduated at 22 and wanted to live back home. Kerry and I missed him, we needed to be reunited! It has now been 9 years at home. It flew by! Keith is fullcare as well. He has Pica, chews inedible, and drools a lot. He is a gentle giant 6'2! I love my Special K's with all my heart and soul! It's never been an easy road. Perseverance, courage, patience and strength. I just bought a book at Salvation Army yesterday, Prayers for Care Givers, by Patti Normile.
