FROM MASSACHUSETTS
My husband Brian has had MS for 33 years and is now paraplegic. It's been a daily transition all the way regarding his physical abilities and taking care of his daily needs which now take about 4 hours per day. He uses a power wheelchair and has a shower chair, and a Hoyer lift for bed and shower. I have researched online for grants to help pay for daily needs, and have found a few. Fortunately, our income is low enough so the state provides pay for CNAs to come in during the week. This is a godsend for my shoulder and back problems. I'm the caretaker on the weekends and in-between, and I found for me, it is absolutely ESSENTIAL to get my hubby ready and in bed EARLY. I found when it was later, I was more tired and had less patience. It is so much better for us that way. We live a pretty low key life but we're relatively happy, and very grateful for what we have.
