FROM MAINE

I started taking care of my now ex's mother about 6 years. She had a spinal infection that put her in a wheel chair and said was not likely to walk again, with small chance if did rigorous therapy and wasn't guaranteed and weren't hopeful. Against the odds she did for a short time but as her muscles deteriorated she was less mobile until finally completely dependant on it and full care. I took it on gladly, I love helping people and get gratification from it and feel needed and appreciated. I continued her care until he and I separated but still visit and talk with her on a frequent basis. Once you make a connection and care for someone it's hard to walk away and not be concerned about their care after mine and want to still be around.
