FROM NORTH CAROLINA

I have been the caregiver for my sister, father, and mother until each of them passed away - the latest my mother in April, 2017. Currently I am caring for my 82-year old husband who is receiving Hospice care at home. His name is Darwin. He is suffering from cardiac issues and liver failure. He has days when he is completely lucid and other days that he does not know who I am. He has had many falls recently where he has suffered some severe skin tears. I have had to provide wound care for them. I have given him his medications for several years including injections for his diabetes. He is now on continuous oxygen as well. He can no longer be left alone due to his falls so that I may have to quit my part-time job as Church secretary that has kept our finances manageable. I think my real calling in life is to be a caregiver.
