FROM NEBRASKA

My late husband was diagnosed with rectal cancer on Dec 7 18. He was afraid that I would leave him. I told him no he's stuck with me. He spent two weeks in the hospital well they were treating him for other problems also that he had besides the cancer. We came home the 23rd of December. We didn't do anything for my birthday because he was in the hospital which is my birthday is December 16th. Since we received his diagnose we didn't celebrate any holidays he was in so much pain. We went and did radiation treatments 5 days a week for six and a half weeks and he did oral chemotherapy 1500 mg twice a day. We could tell when he was making a turn towards the light because he was getting less responsive. While he was at home we had switched all of his medicines to liquid so I was the one that was administering his medicine. When he was on the pill medicine I went through every day to make sure that he had what he needed. He had almost passed one night before we took him into a Wellness Center. He went into a Wellness Center hospice type of a thing on a Tuesday evening and passed that Sunday morning it was just getting to be too much for me. I was letting myself go and putting things that I wanted to do on hold to be there for my husband. He passed August 26th 2018. This picture hopefully it's the right one it is from us when we got married July 11th 2018 on his 77th birthday he passed within six weeks after that., This is an update to my family caregiving story that I have already shared
