FROM NEW YORK

My husband was critically injured last year after falling out of bed from a bad dream. In doing so, he broke three ribs, punctured a lung and ruptured his spleen. He was in a medically-induced coma for four days at the hospital while they tried to figure out what was wrong with him. That was probably the toughest week for me as I sat by his side all day each day and just watched him and prayed for healing. Praise the Lord, he came out of the coma and a few days later went to rehab. He was back and forth to the hospital three times over the next few weeks because he had a persistent low-grade fever that Tylenol wasn't getting rid of. He came home, I would monitor his temperature and call his PCP, who would send him back to the hospital for more testing. The third time they discovered extra fluid in his lungs and put a tube in to drain it. Five liters later, he was able to breathe easier, the fever was gone, and finally - true rehab could begin. It's been about a year and a half since his initial accident now, and just recently he's back to his ol' self.
