FROM NEW YORK
I am the caregiver for my 93 Year old mother of whom I bathe, dress, feed, give medications to, take to the doctor and put to bed at night. However, I have to leave her alone a good portion of the day due to my work. We are on social security and financially can not afford to not work...I run home constantly during my lunch break to care for her. The stress of living with dementia and a walker is so stressful for her. I sneak a cell phone into work so I can check up on her during the day. If she forgets to hang up the phone I panic. You see, I care for my husband too who is 76 and has mild dementia and a crippled back due to an assault. I need to be at home to care for them but financially it is beyond my means.
