I was the only family member for my Grandma. Four years ago I moved her up from Kansas to Virginia into an assisted living facility in the area. I wanted to be the caregiver version of 'Disney land daddy.' My job was to take her out for dinner, trips to ball games and beaches while in the background making medical decisions and managing the health care facility. A pair of hospital stays triggered the final downfall, and a move into hospice, but up until the last week I was able to taker her out - the final trip was to go see a friend's new baby. It wasn't until afterwards that I realized how stressed I was with worry about how the end was going to happen.
