FROM VIRGINIA

My grandmother became very ill so I took a year off from school when I was in college to help take care of her. We were very close. I had no idea what I was getting myself into but the home health nurse helped my mom, aunt, and myself a lot to tend to her. She fell and broke her hip, she never recovered fully, our job was to make her comfortable at home, she was 80 years old. We helped to move her in bed to prevent bed sores which still formed on her back. Brought her all meals, she was in so much pain, she did have pain meds and saline solutions to keep her comfortable. My grandma lived for 2 months when she passed in her sleep. The process wasn't that long to get her help at home, it was just the matter of setting up all of the appointments. The nurse was so caring and nice to everyone. She cared for her like she was her own grandmother. Thankfully all of the arrangements and care was paid for with insurance. Thank you for letting me share my story.
