FROM WYOMING

After my mom passed away 6 years ago, I moved in with my dad to help him. My dad is a former medical doctor and still active. My job allows me to work from the house and take my dad to get groceries. I take him on the days when his friends shop so he can visit with them. It really takes a village to provide my dad with care and I receive a lot of support from my siblings, neighbors, and community resources. My dad uses the Family Caregiver mini-bus to take him to his workouts and doctor appointments. This gives me time to clean the house, do laundry, and work. My dad likes to garden and some of the neighbor kids help him. My brothers help me with the physical stuff like minor home repairs, installing hand rails and other home assistance that will help dad age in his home. I know how important it is to take care of myself so I take yoga classess, have coffee with a friend, or just stop and take a moment to rest. My dad and I are walking this journey together.
