Learn about this winning project from a 2017 AARP Community Challenge grantee

LOCATION: Wayne, Michigan
GRANTEE: Wayne Main Street

Derby’s Alley, a city-center pathway in downtown Wayne, Michigan, now boasts new benches and tables and a space for events. “We wanted to make our downtown walkable,” said Juan Bradford, president of the Wayne Main Street. “[We wanted to] make it a friendly inviting place for anybody who wants to come visit Wayne.” Now residents and visitors alike can use the public space and enjoy the increased walkability and community vibe of the area.
