Photo of Diane Keaton

Our April/May issue featured Diane Keaton.

DYNAMIC DIANE

Love the end of “The Curious Mind and Singular Success of Diane Keaton”: “What is Diane Keaton’s eccentric appeal, the reason she has stayed for so many years on Americans’ screens and in their hearts? It could just be that she lives life on her own idiosyncratic terms—and encourages the rest of us to try it too.”

FIELD OF DREAMS

Thank you for the article “Family Farms Through the Ages.” Growing up in beautiful Bucks County, Pennsylvania, our parents always took us to the local farms. Nothing better than fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. Thanks to farmers everywhere for all your hard work.

WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD

The Weight Issue” affirmed a positive way of approaching midlife weight gain. Shopping for new clothes in my 50s became fun when I let go of the idea that maybe, someday, I’ll fit into my “normal” size. I feel healthy and look good at my age-appropriate weight. Taking care of my body, listening to it, and appreciating what it can and can’t do has been a lifelong trial and error. My mantra now: Use it or lose it.

NOT MY STYLE

In the article “My Daughter, My Stylist,” three middle-aged women look just like that ... older women dressed in their daughters’ clothes. The fashion industry is missing a huge segment of the market of older women who want to look stylish but not childish. I’d like a fun summer dress that’s not sleeveless, backless or a V-neck. I don’t want to show off my belly button. What about tailored summer slacks, casual but sophisticated?

FIRED UP

The story of the Uber driver going into a burning building to save people brought tears of joy to my eyes [“If You’re Not Leaving, I’m Not Leaving”]. Thank God for Fritz Sam’s faith and his willingness to do the right thing. I commend his passenger for her role too. The article is a wonderful reminder that we can make a difference in this world by slowing down and helping others.

DO UNTO OTHERS

Everyone should speak up against antisemitism, as your timely article makes clear [“The Oldest Hatred”]. Antisemitism may be old, but FBI data consistently shows that it is frequent. We must put an end to this hatred.
