Do You Need a Dashcam? If You Get in an Accident, Yes

UPFRONT/GO

Video on the Go

A dashcam can film what’s happening around your car

AN INCREASING NUMBER of drivers are installing car dashcams. But beyond capturing some spectacular sight to share, what purpose do they serve?

Peace of mind

A dashcam could prove to law enforcement or an insurance company that you weren’t at fault in an accident. Models with motion sensors can help identify a vandal when the car is left unattended.

Considerations

A dashcam with 4K resolution can record quality video for insurance purposes. An SD card slot allows for video storage. Some models can upload video to the cloud, typically for a fee. —Edward C. Baig
