Our June/July issue featured Jeff Bridges.

REBUILDING BRIDGES

The article “Lucky Man” is beautifully written. It captures so much of Jeff Bridges, and it’s also encouraging and fun in exactly the ways you describe him to be. One of his finest movies is The Fisher King.

Cancer is bad enough, but adding COVID symptoms must have been a real nightmare. (I know: I was diagnosed with cancer eight months ago and have had surgery and chemo.) The Old Man is a great series, and I wish Jeff Bridges the best and improved health.

So glad Jeff made it through and glad to hear about Season 2 of The Old Man.

A CULTURAL MOVEMENT

It was a joy to read “50 Years of Hip-Hop!” I could hear the music in my head of Run-DMC, Eric B. & Rakim, MC Lyte and so many others who were a part of my childhood playlist. Hip-hop’s proliferation throughout every aspect of our culture cannot be overstated.

ALL OVER THE PLACE

I’ve long been a fan of Memphis artist Stephen Hudson [“My Happy Place”], and I have the pleasure of owning a print of the Old Mill! Thank you for the article.

GUT CHECK

I agree that yogurt is good [“Good for Your Gut?”], but I disagree with the review of kombucha. As with yogurt, one can carefully find brands and flavors that have less sugar. A half cup serving over ice keeps the sugar down.

A DOCTORED TITLE

The $80 Million Health Care Fraud” was about a family that committed fraud, but your cover line for the piece, “Medicare Scam: Fraud in the Family Practice,” was misleading. Nothing in the article relates to family practice as a specialty.

ORDINARY PEOPLE

Thank you for your Real/People series. AARP is the only magazine I read cover to cover each issue, and my favorite part is about these inspiring people and what they’ve done to make life better—for themselves and those around them.
