Honda Recalls 720,000 Vehicles Over Defective Fuel Pumps

Increased risk of fire cited

Honda recalled approximately 720,000 vehicles for a defect in the high-pressure fuel pump, which can lead to cracks forming inside the unit, the company announced.

The cracks can grow while the car is driven, potentially causing fuel leaks and a noticeable gas smell when idling or on the road, increasing the risk of fire, accidents, or injury, the automaker said.

Honda has not received any reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue.

The recalled vehicles are:

  • 2023-2024 Accord
  • 2023-2024 Accord Hybrid
  • 2025 Civic Sedan
  • 2025 Civic Sedan Hybrid
  • 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid

Earlier this month, Honda recalled nearly 1.7 million vehicles, including the 2025 Civic Sedan, Civic Sedan Hybrid, and 2023-2025 CR-V Hybrids, for a steering defect linked to a potential manufacturing error.

Registered owners of the affected models will receive mail notifications in December with instructions for taking their cars to an authorized Honda dealer for a free inspection. If the fuel pump is found to be defective, it will be replaced at no cost.

Honda urges all owners to get their vehicles checked promptly after receiving the notification.
