Fred (William Frawley) and Ethel (Vivian Vance), who were 22 years apart in age in real life, were apparently not big fans of each other behind the scenes, according to multiple sources, including IMDB. 

Because she has to do so many retakes, Lucy gets wildly drunk while shooting the commercial for the tonic, which is 23 percent alcohol — but the viscous fluid she’s actually drinking is apple pectin.

Lucy waited tables during the 1954 episode The Diner after the Ricardos and Mertzes bought a restaurant; she and Ethel famously melted in front of a chocolate factory conveyor belt in 1952’s Job Switching; and she got into fisticuffs with an Italian woman while stomping grapes in the 1956 classic Lucy’s Italian Movie. She never created sky-high high jinks, however, as a flight attendant.

Lucy actually uses the name Lucille McGillicuddy as an alias throughout the series, usually when she is trying to pull off some scheme without Ricky knowing about it.

Lucy and Ethel stuff their clothes with store-bought eggs they hope to sneak into their henhouse in the country, only they both get caught, and the eggs crushed, by their unwitting husbands. The routine produced so much laughter — 65 seconds’ worth — that the network had to edit it down.
