Video: Creating a Safer, More Sensible Street

Learn about this winning project from a 2017 AARP Community Challenge grantee

LOCATION: Fort Wayne, Indiana
GRANTEE: City of Fort Wayne

Right outside of Conjure Coffee lay a mismatch of hard-to-cross, fast-moving one- and two-way streets. After a pop-up demonstration makeover from the urban planners of Team Better Block, the chaotic corner became a "Complete Street," one that could be safely used by drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

  • The AARP Community Challenge funds “quick-action” projects that build momentum for local change to improve livability for people of all ages.
