Video: Installing Planters and Places to Sit

Learn about this winning project from a 2017 AARP Community Challenge grantee

LOCATION: Lexington, Kentucky
GRANTEE: Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government

“Today’s grand opening is one that’s going to serve Lexington for decades to come,” said Scott Wegenast, associate state director of AARP Kentucky, during an unveiling ceremony in Idle Hour Park, which is located next to the city’s senior center. The placement of the seating makes the benches especially user-friendly since people can choose whether to sit next to or across from one another, and each set of benches includes space for a wheelchair user.
