Video: A Transportation "Pop-Up" Tool Kit is Used to Create a Bike Lane

Learn about this winning project from a 2020 AARP Community Challenge grantee

LOCATION: Houston, Texas
GRANTEE: City of Houston Planning and Development Department

A Demonstration Transportation Tool Kit Leads to Permanent Change

To show the benefits of bike lanes, crosswalks, speed cushions and other traffic and mobility solutions, the City of Houston created a transportation-themed demonstration tool kit that it used to install a pop-up bike lane in the Gulfton neighborhood. The temporary lane inspired a permanent redesign of a major roadway in the area.
