People who have health insurance coverage through large employers may assume the health care debate won’t affect them. In fact, the American Health Care Act (AHCA) could negatively affect them in several ways. Many people who currently have employer-based coverage may leave or lose that coverage in the future and need to turn to the individual market. Even people who remain in employer-based coverage could face higher out-of-pocket costs as a result of changes made by the AHCA. 

This fact sheet describes how the AHCA would negatively affect large numbers of people who might otherwise be assumed to have adequate coverage.
