The Three Generations Survey is a comprehensive look at the attitudes and behaviors of Millennials, Gen X, and Boomers. Data releases about student loan debt, financial behavior, voting, media use, and social activism will occur throughout fall 2018.
Key findings:
- Perception of the condition of the economy improves with age. Sixty-three percent of Millennials, 72% of Gen X, and 74% of Boomers feel the condition of the economy is good or very good.
- Members of all generations understand economic inequality to be a problem in the United States.
- Members of all generations understand the importance of Social Security.
- Majorities of non-retired persons in all generations say it is very or somewhat important that Medicare is there for them when they turn 65 or retire.
The Three Generations Survey is a nationally representative survey of 1,648 Millennials, 1,530 Gen X, and 1,684 Baby Boomers conducted by AARP and AYA (Association of Young Americans). The survey was fielded by NORC using their AmeriSpeak probability-based panel between July 10 and August 7, 2018. For media inquiries, contact media@aarp.org.
