When the Allied forces liberated Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944 — D-Day — they also met the men, women and children who had lived through the German occupation of World War II. In honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, AARP is proud to share this short documentary, The Girl Who Wore Freedom. In this film, we hear from the French citizens who still speak of a love affair that bonds them to their American liberators to this day, including Dany Patrix, whose experience provides a framework for the film.
