Halle Berry Gets Naked With Dignity at 56 and Mocks Her Young Troll

The star rebuked her sexist, ageist online critic

VIDEO: Halle Berry Reflects on Legacy of Historic Oscar Win

On April 8, Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry, 56, posted a photo of herself holding a glass of wine on a balcony, naked (though with private parts not visible). “I do what I wanna do,” she wrote. “Happy Saturday.”

Zimbabwean antifeminist and social media entrepreneur Shadaya Knight, 29, was outraged. “Imagine being in your fifties, still posting nudes for attention in menopause when you should be chilling with the grandkids. Aging with dignity is no longer a thing.”

Berry retorted with a droll tweet: “Did you guys know the heart of a shrimp is located in its head?”

Berry was even more eloquent on the subject of aging in her cover story in the February/March 2022 issue of AARP The Magazine, in which she said she found happiness and balance in her 50s. Her comment has more wisdom than Knight’s, and more dignity:  “We’re all going to get older,” said Berry. “We’re going to look different. I refuse to become someone who just tries to hold onto a youthful face and not embrace what’s most important about being beautiful — how you live your life, how you give back to others, how you connect to people, how you strengthen your mind, body and soul and nourish yourself, how you give in a meaningful way of yourself.”

Knight frequently attacks women online.

“Being married to a woman is like living with a snake,” he opined. “You just have to know how to charm it ... One drunk man is more intelligent than 3 women with PhDs.”

Celebrities and fans were quick to jump in with words of support for Berry after the troll lashed out.

Actress Audra McDonald, 52, wrote to Berry, “You won the internet today with this clap back.”

“Enjoy life. Whatever life brings you. Halle has the right attitude,” an Instagram user wrote.

“You are like that fine wine in your hand, Halle. Aging fabulously,” wrote another.

Berry might have replied to Knight by quoting what she told AARP: “The most beautiful people have something radiating inside.”
