Celebrate National Popcorn Day Deals and Freebies at the Movies (or at Home)

Load up on buttery goodness this Friday, Jan. 19 — for free or at a discount

Friday is the perfect day to indulge in your favorite buttery movie snack. Jan. 19 is National Popcorn Day, and movie theaters across the nation are celebrating.

Here are some of the offers to take advantage of worldwide. Check Fandango, an online vendor of movie tickets, for a full list of deals.

Regal

Regal Crown Club members get a free small popcorn when they purchase a movie ticket. If you’re not a member, you can still get 50 percent off classic popcorn of any size. If you own a Regal Refillable popcorn bucket, you can get one free refill. Gourmet popcorn is excluded from the offer.

AMC

AMC is offering unlimited refills on any size popcorn on Friday. Find a movie theater near you.

Cinemark

Medium and large popcorn will be $2 off on Friday at Cinemark locations. Cinemark is also having a mobile ordering sweepstakes through Monday, Jan. 22: Anyone who places a mobile concessions order using the Cinemark website or app will be entered to win free popcorn and Coke for a year. If you’re a Cinemark Movie Rewards member and you participate in the sweepstakes, you’re eligible to win a $500 Cinemark gift card. Keep an eye out on Cinemark’s Instagram and X accounts (@cinemark) for free large popcorn.

Alamo Drafthouse

Buy a movie ticket and purchase a minimum of $5 on food and beverages and snag a free bowl of popcorn. The offer is available at all Alamo Drafthouse locations, and refills are not included.

B&B Theaters

If you’re a Backstage Pass loyalty program member, you’re able to get a free small popcorn at any of their locations in 14 states. Find a location near you.

Cinepolis

The luxury movie theater brand with locations in seven states is offering 50 percent off caramel popcorn and $2 off bottomless butter popcorn, according to Fandango.

Landmark Theaters

Show your movie ticket at any Landmark Theater location to get a free popcorn on Friday. Limit one order of popcorn per ticket.

Showcase Cinemas

Members of the Showcase Cinemas’ Starpass loyalty program can get a free small popcorn with any movie ticket purchase at all locations in Massachusetts, New York, Ohio and Rhode Island. Just make sure to sign up for the loyalty program on or before Jan. 19.

Craving popcorn shipped to your door? Popcorn vendors that ship nationwide are also offering deals.

Garrett Popcorn

The Chicago-based popcorn shop ships nationwide, and to celebrate National Popcorn Day it’s giving customers a 15 percent discount. The deal is automatically applied at checkout.

Popinsanity

For new customers, the gourmet popcorn shop offers 10 percent off your first purchase. Customers in the contiguous U.S. are eligible for free shipping on orders of more than $65; use the code SHIPIT. 

Doc Popcorn

Swing by a DocPopcorn location on Friday for a free order of popcorn. The shop, dedicated to offering a variety of popcorn flavors including apple crisp, cookies and cream and even taco-flavored popcorn, has more than 100 locations worldwide.

Prospector Popcorn

Prospector Popcorn is having a 20 percent off sale on some select flavors and packs. The popcorn shop is a nonprofit “dedicated to competitive and inclusive employment for people with disabilities,” according to its website, so you can make sure your popcorn indulgences are helping with a great cause.

CityPop

Visit the CityPop site, and you’ll be greeted by pop-up windows to input your email to get deals — anywhere from 10 to 20 percent off. For National Popcorn Day specifically, you can use the code NPD20 to get 20 percent off your order. If you order at least $30 worth of popcorn (after discounts), you can get a free order of caramel popcorn.
