Let’s Talk Tacos! Where to Score Delicious Deals on National Taco Day

Taco Tuesday this week just got a whole lot better

People across the country will be taking advantage of deals and freebies on Oct. 1, this year’s National Taco Day. And for older adults on a budget (or who just like to save a buck or two) it’s a great day to get your taco fix.

Thanks to fast-food giant Taco Bell, the unofficial holiday will now and forevermore fall on the first Tuesday of every October instead of the traditional date of Oct. 4. This means National Taco Day will always fall on a Taco Tuesday.

“For years, we’ve celebrated National Taco Day on October 4th, but it’s always felt like there was a bigger opportunity to align it with something even more special — Taco Tuesday,” Marlo Anderson, founder of National Day Calendar, said in a news release. “Thanks to Taco Bell’s efforts, we’re excited to officially move National Taco Day to the first Tuesday in October, creating the Taco Tuesday of all Taco Tuesdays.”

Ready to celebrate? Check out these deals from some of your favorite chains on both Oct. 1 and Oct. 4. Call ahead to see if the location nearest you is participating in the promotion.

Taco Bell

On Oct. 1, for each hour from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., there will be 10,000 $1 tacos available for Rewards members to redeem on the Taco Bell app. The type of taco will change every hour, so check the list provided in Taco Bell’s news release to see which hour you’d like to hop on this deal.

Taco Bell has a lineup of deals for Rewards members planned for the rest of the month, so head to its app to see how you can continue to celebrate. Find your local Taco Bell here.

Chuy’s

After hearing about the move to change National Taco Day’s date, Chuy’s saw an opportunity.

“When someone changes the date of National Taco Day, you celebrate it twice — on the new date and the OG date,” Chuy’s shared in a media alert. “One can never have enough tacos!”

On Tuesday and Friday, you can add a crispy or softshell ground beef taco to any dine-in entrée order for $1. You can also celebrate by adding a $1 tequila floater on top of any margarita. Don’t forget your taco costume for the best deal of all!

“Visit your local Chuy’s dressed like a taco on October 1 and October 4, 2024, post your photo on social media with #ChuysTacoDay and in return you’ll receive a free, dine-in entrée of your choice on Taco Day(s),” the eatery’s release says.

You can find your nearest Chuy’s restaurant here.

Del Taco

With more than 500 fast-food restaurants across the country, Del Taco is another great place to celebrate National Taco Day. Members of the free Del Yeah! Rewards program can get the Del Taco on the house with any purchase come Oct. 1. These tacos are full of seasoned beef, cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes inside your choice of a corn shell or a flour tortilla. See if there’s a Del Taco near you

Rubio’s

Rubio’s Coastal Grill offers Rubio’s Rewards members a free a la carte taco with any purchase on Oct. 4. Rewards members who check in on the app come Friday will be entered for a chance to win a free taco every day for a year — no purchase necessary.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop

For more Baja-style Mexican cuisine, visit a Fuzzy’s Taco Shop. On Oct. 1, you can score up to 15 OG Tacos for $1.50 each at select locations.

Our guests know the best tacos are right here, and $1.50 OG Tacos are our way of making it even better.”
